Cycles of Life - Original Poetry
Sun hanging low in the sky
another day has passed
Chill of night fills the air
Warmth of the day can never last
Street lights fill voids of darkness
lighting my way
Push back against the night
til the sun brings a new day
The cycles of life
shorter than the seasons
They come and go
without any reasons
Gazing out the window
stars dancing across the sky
Soon I'll be greeted by day
with the sun hung high
Lines on my face
remind me my cycle is near
Not afraid of death
It's the living l fear
Photo taken by me
So cool you did a poem of a photo you actually took! Nice job on this.
Thank you! It was fun to do, not as easy as just writing words, but I enjoyed doing it.
Great rhythm, and a wonderfully mysterious photo to match! I like the repetition of 'cycles' at the middle and end, reinforcing the theme and making the closing lines that much punchier. Ultimately, I think, we do not fear death, but the prospect of dying unfulfilled - every wasted day makes that feel realer and realer. Thanks for such a thoughtful write.
Thank you! You can never waste a day, because time is more valuable than anything. I'm glad you enjoyed.
