Death

Love or hatred,
We may not believe;
Peace or violence,
We may not believe;
Luck or fate,
We may not believe;
Miracle or magic,
We may not believe;
Heaven or hell,
We may not believe;
Faith or works,
We may not believe;
Even God or Satan,
We may not believe;
This or that,
We still may not believe;
But, one thing,
We must believe -

Escape it in childhood,
Dodge it in adulthood,
Yet, inescapable as old age advances.
At its visit -
Nothing else of us is left,
Except our legacies.
Its name is death!
