The second coming

We understood the past
When we were free with each other
And, our smiles could be interpreted,
Including our cries.
We knew our shortcomings,
And how to live with them.

At the unwarranted gulf buildup,
We tried to fill the gap,
But were helpless
So, we let things be.

Now, this unsolicited visit,
Unplanned and unexpected
Is shocking up to the marrow.
Its accompanying wind -
Whether ill or good,
Only the future knows.

The understanding we knew,
The captivating aura,
And the encompassing innocence,
Now belong to the past.

The mind presently shrouded in uneasiness,
And entrapped in a bottle of doubt -
Too many questions linger,
Each pressing to be cleared -
Judgement status is suspect,
Due to the jolting of this sudden visit.

Calm should rather reign,
Until the coast is cleared,
Because this time is pregnant -
To either remake or mar,
Rebuild or consume us.
We must court care to survive.
