back against the mirror,
the man only stands there, staring
for the fogged window.
lengthy procession-
the file of black shambles
through the silent quay
candles flickering-
salt breathes in this orange light
against booming waves.
waiting for the rain
I watch the cat step outside
to step back inside.
lost in the sea,
sunlight dwindles down currents,
stops in the fish's eye.
