Poem : Why Now?
This is another short poem about inspiration.
Why Now?
Sometimes, inspiration oozes into you
Warm, wet and oddly comforting
A steaming cowpat between your toes on a frosty morning
Sometimes inspiration shocks you
A hammer blow, every nerve ending overloaded
The fish you caught brushes the electric fence
and you become the stunned mullet
Sometimes inspiration creeps up on you
Stalks through the back door of your mind
and camps on your couch
As it dawns on you just how drunk you are
after that sixth home brew at your brother’s birthday
Sometimes inspiration doesn’t come at all
