I loved these lines;
Through the gaps in pavement walked
Where once the flowers grew
and over ice cream we talked.
It paints a picture of something without romance then the line of you guys talking over ice-cream brings the romance back. Basically something like love in the time of cholera or in love and war or something similar. It is beautiful anyway.
I love the spontaneous nature of the poem and the fact that you didn't edit much of structure and grammar. It gives it a realistic and urgent feel.
This is about the crux of it.
