The Town - An Original Short Poem Inspired by EAP

in #poetry7 years ago

This blog is dedicated to my rants, ideas and dreams. I've written sporadically in efforts to inspire, motivate and disrupt the everyday routine. Ideas create color in life.

Today I've brought you a short poem in which I hope you'll enjoy. I wrote it based on inspiration from EAP's poetry, epic stories like the Telltale Heart can really get the imagination flowing so without any further distraction, I give you this poem entitled 'The Town.'

The Town

All around the putrid town a lion with a mane of thorns wears his coat on top his fur of brown and people snicker of hopeless dreams and beggars shake cans of tin for useless change and a little kindness goes a long way.

Welcome to the town.

Welcome to the town, the passersby’s frown offering apathetic greetings.

Welcome to the town where lies abound and while what they do say is less than dreamy.

Welcome to the town where all civilities drowned amidst widows grieving.

Welcome to the town, enjoy your stay.
