Present, Past and Future (Original Poem)

Part 1, The 2 Peas and Mr. Eff:

Present, Past and Future three terms that come of time,

To many these have been like a bitter, sour lime,

but these three friends are actually so easy to define.

The past to most a manual at the present draw it’s line,

The future elusive, in-existent and mysterious to our mind,

is simply but a spark to help light the flame man needs to find.

Part 2, The Taxing of Time and the Economics of Happiness:

The present is a moment hard to grasp though it is there,

yet in our modern society it is perceived as a rare expensive ware.

For every living moment is precious, costly and hard to spare,

hence we chase the Present far away from our now and here.

Forgetting to take a deep breath and enjoy it out of fear,

fear of losing that future we imagine and hold so dear.

A life in fear, haste and running will never then unfold,

in a later future-present joy and happiness to behold,

for the present must be savored and learned to be enjoyed,

an ability that we once had and as we grew up was destroyed.

Part 3, The (lost) Artifice of Happiness:

In our early childhood-innocence we had lived within that place,

with that open mind of fantasy we have experienced that space,

that timeless realm of happiness which was corrupted as we aged,

to the point that how we lived the present shattered and changed!

For now within the present we live the future in our mind,

within that pretty future true happiness we believe to find.

A goal impossible to achieve in present future-reveries,

without the ability of living present-moment realities.

Part 4, I remember that I am:

Take that long needed deep breath and open your inner child’s eyes,

and rediscover how to live the present and see Lifes limitless skies.

For life exists within the present that is so grand

within the big “now”, that is hard to understand,

without which no thing would ever be nor ever stand

hence it is infinite and not in time his dear command.
