Sick of Pokémon Go? Block it in Chrome with these extensions
If the very mention of Pokémon Go — the augmented reality game that's become the biggest U.S. mobile game ever in a matter of days — makes you cringe, burying your computer behind the shed and moving to live in the woods is not the only option for retaining your sanity.
You can also install one of the several Chrome extensions that have cropped up recently, hiding all Pokémon Go-related content.

One of the first such extensions we've seen is called PokeGone, and it's freely available here. Unfortunately, judging from the many angry reviews on the Chrome web store, it doesn't work for everyone. I've tried it, and it did work, removing all mentions of Pokemon from my Chrome, but instead of only removing words containing "Pokemon" it turned entire pages that contained mentions of the game completely blank. The extension is maintained by software developer Jamie Farrelly.
Another one to try is called Pokemon NO! Pokemon BLOCKER, and it has far more positive reviews. The idea is pretty much the same — remove all mentions of Pokemon from Chrome. This one, however, only removed specific mentions of the game, leaving the rest of the page intact — a far more elegant solution. It is being maintained by software developer Conor Browne.
The downside of using any of these extensions is that the majority of Twitter and Facebook content will stop making sense. But hey, at least your online life is Pokémon-free!
