RE: REAL Poker Strategy For Novice Players From a Perennial Shark; What You Should Do Before You Ever Sit Down At A Table

But if you call, you are up against two unknown hands preflop, and your odds of winning are 73%. However, if you shove all in, and one of them folds, your odds go up to 85%.

You should note that, if you could get both of the players to go all in with you pre-flop, that would be the optimal outcome. That is to say, you would rather win 2 stacks 73% of the time than 1 stack 85% if the time.

The problem here comes from the fact that you have to go to the flop with a hand thats difficult to play multiway and oop, esspecially against creative players in a large pot.

AIPF, in holdem, pocket aces does really well against multiple opponents. Against random hands, i think the optimal number of PF callers is 5. Against likely callers (PPs and big suited aces) its 6 or 7. (it actually does better against likely callers than it does against random hands, because most likely callers can't win with 2 pair)
