Everyone is MISSING the Point!!! WHO Gets the Guns?

in #politics6 years ago (edited)

There has been a lot of talk about this, so let's talk about gun control:

What is a gun's purpose? It is more than simply an inanimate object because as acting beings driven by purpose, we have formed it from the ground, given it a name, and its purpose is similarly intentional; that purpose is to kill.

Who reserves the right to wield objects designed for killing? Should it be delegated to a few actors decided by means of the majority? If so, are we not governed by the whims of this majority and whatever it decides are the moral boundaries for society? Do we not become subject to the decisions made by politicians and the select few who move the opinion of the easily swayed majority?

When power is usurped by the majority and given to the few, corruption will inevitably ensue. How can people obsess over giving the few a monopoly on the ability to kill, but neglect that these select few are the same people that lead us into wars that cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands?

How can people get riled up about taking power away from the individual and giving it to the few, who use it to wage bloody war against nations; who use it to blockade the ports of a nation putting millions on the brink of starvation all in the name of protecting Saudi imperial interests. -A war in which our Saudi friends have indiscriminately/intentionally targeted children, funeral processions, and hospitals. Who will speak for the million with cholera, many of them children? Will they even be mentioned in the news? Will anyone march for the 50,000 children killed by the war last year? Will anyone remember these people's voices?

that purpose is to kill.

Disagree, the average gun in America is only used in a homicide once every 10,000 years. So obviously that is not the purpose for most people. The purpose of a gun is to defend. God made man, Sam Colt made them all equal. Mao once said "political power grows from the barrel of a gun" then he took away his people's guns and killed millions of them.

The left have hijacked that as an argument against guns which is a faulty argument that I addressed in the article. I will stand by my statement because I believe that even in case of self defense, it is the existential capability of a gun that makes it menacing enough to scare away attackers.
