Guns Are NOT For Self Defense

To all those that call for protecting guns out of self defense…
To all those calling for banning guns or simply more gun control…

It is impossible to avoid taking a stance on this issue and there is a greater philosophical question here that fails to be addressed.

This is not really a question of gun control OR self defense,

but a question of whether or not individuals ought to be trusted or our faith ought to be delegated to “higher authorities” that “know best.” We must reject the scenario that individuals decide to put their faith in mortal men.

We must reject the scenario where individuals decide to usurp their own understanding of morality

to another that they trust know better than themselves. There is no higher authority, here, on earth, that can claim superiority over the individual man. I have been brought into existence with the same understanding as everyone else, no person any lesser or greater, and no person can make a choice on my behalf.

What is government other than a group of people elected/supported by the masses?

Why give the select few, monopoly on force? Are they so civilized and sane? Can they be more trusted with weapons of destructive force than the common man? No. The majority and the select few’s law is lawless. It bends to man’s subjective sense of morality, total immorality disguised by the deceitful word “civility.” Is it civil to go to war over monetary matters? Is it civil to torture? Is it civil to have a prison system so strict that it vilifies non violent offenses to the point that it has the highest prison population in the world? Is it civil to kill babies? Is it civil to deceive people with lies?

Man’s morality moves with the masses, it is guided by the madness of subjective reasoning.

Morality is not subjective, anyone that claims otherwise will either realize an inconsistency in his/her own logic or intentionally become the most manipulative of creatures. Why should we trust the few or majority to dictate morality? The individual ought not usurp its sense of morality to mortal “higher powers” or the masses. We ought to reject banning any item that is permitted to be kept by others of "superior status."
