I wrote a book about what I thought would be a fictional universe

Then Trump got elected.

Like most everyone, probably including Donald Trump, I never thought he would become the president. But it seemed like great material for a reductio ad absurdum, alternate universe. Why not write some stories that explored the crazy ideas that he and his followers spout, maybe looking at how they would play out?

Of course we all know what happened. In spite of obvious incompetence, a legacy of hatred, intolerance, misogyny and history of sexual assault, Trump was elected via the electoral college. And probably a LOT of help from abroad.

So my book had to change. I didn't want my stories to be predictive, but they had to take into account the reality of trumpism. There are five stories in my book, each one takes place in a different alternate universe. Each looks at a different aspect of the trumpist reality, but also about how we fit into it.
