Flint Michigan: A State Created Disaster

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

3 Years and still no justice for Flint...

In April of 2014 citizens of Flint Michigan noticed something wrong with their water.
The Flint water was appearing brown and odorous due to leader and other waste in the pipes and water source.

A hasty decision exposed citizens to hazards..

Despite knowing that the new water system was approximately 2 years from completion, Flint City officials switched the source of the City's drinking water from the Detroit municipal source to the Flint River which meant that the water would be travelling through unsafe pipelines and would be severely contaminated.

Citizens in uproar..

Citizens of Flint took no time in voicing their discontent.
Flint City Hall was soon filled with furious residents whom were exposed to the toxic lead laced water.

State attempts at covering up....

There are reports that the state neglected to address the situation which led to it being declared a state of emergency.
The situation could have reportedly been avoided for just about 1million USD, but the situation resulted in 15 dead and approximately 10,000 children exposed to hazard and toxic waste.
There is evidence that the state of Michigan even falsified its reports on the levels of toxins in the City's water by testing the wrong homes and claiming that there was no need to add anti corrosive agents to the water, until 12 months worth of observation was conducted.
Federal Reports quickly indicated otherwise but was neatly kept under wraps when inquired upon by a former Flint Mayor.

Citizens left to waste..

Flint residents are left to bathe and consume toxic waste while the City Officials celebrated the decision to switch the City's water source, so that they could save a marginal amount of money. Citizens are outcries are neglected as the state falsified reports and makes errors in addressing the issue which in result exasperated the situation for residents.
Things like adding chlorine and boiling water will worsen lead laced water, but that didn't stop the negligent state of Michigan from implementing such tactics.

Not much has been done in the means of justice for Flint residents, the murderers and crooks who poisoned the Flint community.
