Acorn of the Day 7/16/18 - Discussing Politics in the Workplace
Why are we not supposed to talk about politics or real issues in the workplace? Why is this considered taboo?
Is this because someone will be offended should two people disagree on political views and get upset?
What does this say about us as adults? That we cannot have a mature conversation without getting upset at the other? That we cannot agree to disagree amicably?
If we are not discussing politics or other controversial subject matter, then what are we talking about? The weather? TV shows? Other crap that does not matter?
Perhaps our population is so misinformed because discussion among ourselves in an environment we frequent is discouraged.
Could this type of discussion be prohibited in order to keep things that way...?
Well I believe we need to break this mold and carve our own path. We need to be talking about these things in order to generate meaningful discussion and thoughts.
This is one way we can spread knowledge and wisdom among our fellow humans.
