Still not my president ....

in #politics7 years ago

Sometimes I like to forget who the current president of the United States is because it's so embarrassing. It's almost as like we don't have a president....in my mind at least. Today however I stumbled across this from the Washington post, And I'm just flabbergasted at how manipulated the American people are:

This just boggles my mind. We know all politicians lie, we know a lot of the time we have to pick the lesser of the evils. What most people don't know, is the pressure and decisions that are made behind close doors when a leader has to take an action that would possibly, let's say, kill 5 people, but save 100 (inaction would kill the 100). Almost a year later, I will still admit that Trump ran a fantastic campaign, he did a great job at tapping into the emotions of a tired, indentured, American people. But so did Hitler in Germany circa 1930s. Mussolini took a similar route to political power in Italy at the same time. The people are disillusioned and fed up with the establishment, and I don't blame them. But I do blame the people for not waking up and looking what's right in front of their eyes. They always say the best place to hide things are in plain sight, cause no one looks there.

Trump is a pawn, but it doesn't mean he isn't making a mockery of our country. It doesn't mean his presidency hasn't caused the country to digress in acceptance of diversity on all fronts - a country where white people, mind you, will statistically be in the minority within a few decades. Doesn't mean he hasn't worsened racial tensions and the relationship of police and other authorities with the people. It doesn't mean that he doesn't represent white privilege, more specifically, a white mans privilege. He's everything that's wrong with this country and the ultimate symbol of the modern definition of capitalism.

He may be "educated," but for a president of the United States, he's not so educated and clearly also represents a majority of Americans self-centeted view of their mindset and views, as well as a lack of knowledge on geography, foreign affairs and political agreements. He represents the rule of this country, that can't last very long.

Trump played like he was anti-establishment, but he's a product of the establishment. At this point, I still respect another person's political opinion and views, but I also feel if you truly think this man is fit to have access to the nuclear buttons, I think we all need to get a little more educated on what that power entails and can lead to. It doesn't mean America has balls, America had more balls before we had a president who stomped his feet like a two year old when someone from the media talks shit ..... when deciding to become a politician, one essentially accepts that there will always be people and media talking shit who will never like you. It's part of the job description. I don't believe this president read the job description first.

I originally shared and posted this on Facebook, thought I would share it here as well..... I am open to all political opinions and respect the opinions of others, I just think it's important to remember that we should never blindly follow any leader ....
