Iran VS US: 4 Questions About The Nuclear Agreement
So right now the controversy started again after the US decided to pull out from the international agreement with Iran regarding nuclear weaponry and uranium enrichment - the main ingredient for these -, and now, as per popular opinion, the World seems to be on the verge of a nuclear war.
But the question is: what is really going on?
What Is The Deal?
In 2015 was created the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that includes US, UK, China, Russia, and France basically controlling that Iran does not build nuclear facilities nor enrichment of uranium in the future and dismantle those already built in the past.
This was of course worldwide praised as a great success towards peace achievement in the world and international security.
Does The Agreement Work?
Yes, or at least on paper. The agreement is meant to avoid Iranian government to keep up with dangerous behaviors. International watchers leading the program have claimed that Iran has complied to the agreement; nonetheless, the US has decided to pull out from this pact based on the idea that this program inefficiently controls Iran´s operations which they suspect - and also I do - keep taking place in the country.
There have been several investigations on the topic where it implies Iran has taken part in edgy businesses but so far no hardcore proofs, however, if Iran is not building now nuclear weapons it will be the only "bad thing" they are not doing.
Is Canceling The Agreement A Good Idea?
If the agreement is properly working and Iran is not building nuclear weapons thanks to it, then no.
If Iran is through workarounds cheating the agreement, but this does not give them enough space to reach their aims, it is not a concrete positive action neither since US could at least hold the speed of the problem while thinking of a smarter solution. Obama said that it will take several years to conclude a nuclear operation if the reasons behind Trump´s actions are real.
Now, this sudden decision might look silly but I personally doubt is not backed up with a double intended output. And if events go as I think, it might not be that bad...
What Will Happen Now?
US and Iran have 180 days top renegotiate anything related to the topic before heavy economic sanctions are applied to Iran and any other government that is linked to its allegedly nuclear party. This could lead Iran to agreed to better conditions of the agreement or impact negatively to Iran´s economy weakening that way Iranian regime, thus, their allegedly nuclear operations and support to other totalitarian regimes and terrorist groups.
Otherwise, it could escalate the conflict to other levels that, at this point, are just pure far-fetched speculations.
The event will develop in the following days, in the mid-time, relax and enjoy the flight.
Important questions. We all need to find ways to get at the truth, and to work around those who have obvious reasons to tell untruths.
The biggest challenge in the age of the post truth where everyone has a different opinion and agree to believe biased conclusions. Thanks for commenting Mr. Patriot.
