Edward Ouko “The Truth Behind Eurobond Saga”
Consequent to the many scandals in the Jubilee government, Kenyans have learned that there is always no rumors in every little allegation raised against the integrity of the current rule. In just a period of over four years, the Jubilee government has been on the front lines with massive loot ever experienced since the beginning of time. Just like any lesson taught in school, nobody at this point is unaware of the severe losses the country has experienced.
The looting of the country’s resources began with the National Youth Service (NYS) over 2 billion shillings loss under the leadership of Miss Ann Waiguru. Even though the government tried very much to hide the truth from the people, it eventually exploded in their faces and more over soiling the reputation of senior officials including the DP. Mr. Willian Ruto. Now it is over two years, and there is no proper case developed against the real culprits. Instead, some of the supposed perpetrators who should be under serious investigations are being glorified and allowed the privileges official capacities.
Just before the dust on NYS could have settled, there was another uproar on about 5.3 billion loss from within the ministry of health. It was so astonishing that immediately the possibility of loss was revealed, the government was the first one to defend the ministry instead to taking measures to investigating and clearing the doubts. Just when it was thought that the robbery had been swept under the carpet, the President of the United States Donal Trump suspended the health funding to Kenya on the basis of corruption and misappropriation of the funds.
Other than NYS and the Ministry of health losses, there have been other massive losses in the ministry of lands, the ministry of education during the tenure of Prof. Kaimenyi and the docket of internal affairs. Amidst all these losses, the government has always remained relaxed, unreliable and unwilling to prosecute the perpetrators of these offenses.
What Kenyans fear most may however soon come to pass when the truth behind the fate of the Eurobond shall be revealed. The recent attempts by the government to convict Mr. Edward Ouko has served to speak volumes about the fears of the government regarding what the auditor general knows. The have been allegations that the deceases business man Mr. Jacob Juma had had some glimpse of the fate of the mega cash and his mysterious death may have had a lot to do with his knowledge of the money. However, even before there we may have conclusive evidence about the fate of the cash, pessimistic Kenyans now understand very well what the proverb “where there is smoke there is fire” means.
