We all know that women are underrepresented in STEM and other high-pay, high-prestige positions. Is this the result of gender discrimination, a natural result of biological differences between men and women, a cultural phenomenon, or a more complex set of factors?

In a discussion which touches on primate studies, James Damore’s 2017 Google memo, discrimination research, stereotype threat, the IAT, the motherhood penalty, the wage gap, and our own personal histories, The Multiversity Project attempts to parse out what is causing such great disparities between men and women in the workplace.

Why are women underrepresented in key fields? What causes gendered differences in personality and performance? And how do motherhood and the care of children fit into all this?
