Republican Politicians Love Abortion
Frankly, I love politics. It's probably holdover romanticism from a flag-waving church community in Alabama but I still feel like a person can make a difference if they learn to organize..... or they turn full sociopathic self-serving asshole capitalist scum... those ones always seem to get ahead somehow, even worshipped.
But the older I get the less I care to follow the players. More and more I see through issues for what they usually are: political smokescreens designed to distract and divide us so we never focus on their backroom evildoing, and through their control of the narrative it seems very few ever ask why the problem exists in the first place.
In walks big bad abortion. Who has abortions? Why do they have them? We all know why everyone hates them, but doesn't everyone wish abortion wasn't necessary? Of course we do, my god. It takes a vile human to wish abortion on anyone, the unborn or the mother having to make this unbelievably difficult choice. Nobody is pro-abortion, but it seems if you are pro-choice that is how half the US is going to label you- baby killer.
Why do women have abortions?
Most respondents to a survey of abortion patients in 1987 said that more than one factor had contributed to their decision to have an abortion; the mean number of reasons was nearly four. Three-quarters said that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities, about two-thirds said they could not afford to have a child and half said they did not want to be a single parent or had relationship problems.
A multivariate analysis showed young teenagers to be 32 percent more likely than women 18 or over to say they were not mature enough to raise a child and 19 percent more likely to say their parents wanted them to have an abortion. Unmarried women were 17 percent more likely than currently married women to choose abortion to prevent others from knowing they had had sex or became pregnant. Of women who had an abortion at 16 or more weeks' gestation, 71 percent attributed their delay to not having realized they were pregnant or not having known soon enough the actual gestation of their pregnancy.
A later study published in 2004 concluded: The reasons most frequently cited were that having a child would interfere with a woman's education, work or ability to care for dependents (74%); that she could not afford a baby now (73%); and that she did not want to be a single mother or was having relationship problems (48%). Nearly four in 10 women said they had completed their childbearing, and almost one-third were not ready to have a child. Fewer than 1% said their parents' or partners' desire for them to have an abortion was the most important reason. Younger women often reported that they were unprepared for the transition to motherhood, while older women regularly cited their responsibility to dependents.
Financial issues, health care issues, lack of job security through paid FML guaranteed unless the company grows a soul, yeah right. Why do we never put these things together in conversation about abortion? Oh yeah, most people can't talk about abortion, even if they agree with you, for very long without getting heated. Jesus people, let's take a breath and think about this logically.
No doubt the Corporate dems are just as guilty as republicans of enacting oppressive legislation that inevitably contributes to more abortions. But I would argue that republicans actively make it part of their agenda and the do so quite vociferously. They sing it to children and call it baby murder in the churches and at home. They vilify newscasters just for asking fair questions of pro-choice activist guests to each other in front of and directly to impressionable children.
I remember just accepting it and believing, but not believing that so many famous people loved killing babies. They sucked them out of their mothers screaming with vacuum cleaners like MY mom's blue one after tearing their delicate bodies apart with special tools....at least that's how I remember it.
In any case, it's fucked up to describe abortion to kids in most cases right? Jesus would be ashamed of his flock on this one I think. While they're busy planning expensive "mission trips" to the Caribbean or Europe the masses are suffering to the point they have to make the choice to have an abortion to feed themselves and their kids adequately or risk their job, their education, their housing in many cases, dignity and security for themselves and their children. It's disgusting; but they'll never see it that way.
No, their simple bovine brains think: abortion bad, ban abortion, no more abortion. Wham bam thank ya ma'am, we control your body but you can still control your mind......or can you?
Maybe if Democrats would focus on Republican policies and how they directly influence abortion rates they might get some of that centrist unicorn vote they all have raging hardons for. It's not that complicated. We aren't pro abortion or anti life. We are: Do your fucking jobs and serve the people and everyone wins. Subsidize houses by taxing robots, and offer a single payer healthcare system like the rest of the world damnit. It's cheaper and better for everybody, even the Koch brothers study says so. Just do it already.
But then they would have to answer for their total lack of actual governance and their shitshow policies of the last four decades. They can't have that, so the keep us kicking down, kicking sideways, never looking up and the cycle of division and distraction.
Paid family medical leave for every parent for christ's sakes. Our population was in decline before the pandemic, did ya'll know that? How complicated is it to do what we already know works, tax billionaires out of existence, strip corporations of their unlimited power and special citizen status, and good lord, move food and water production and conservation local, fund test tube meats and clever dedesertification tech like the groasis water box, kill Monsanto and it's bitch mother Scott's chemicals, on and on we go chopping heads off the thousand-headed hydra.
I think I'll leave it from here ya'll. I've been away from steemit what seems like forever but I miss it so I think maybe I'll do this more often.
