How To Trust Politicians

I challenge you to notice things.

Which one is the adult like, respectful, and proper way to make an argument?

  1. "I think you're wrong because of xyz. See, I understand it like this because of my experience with xyz, please correct me if you believe I am wrong."

OR..

  1. "I think you're wrong because you're an ugly, stupid, and inconsiderate jerk. I know this because I hate you. And no, I won't hear anything you have to say about it."

I really hope this is obvious.. I wanted to take the drama out of all the political division for a minute and leave only the actions left to show themselves. Who would you trust is being honest here?

Here's where I'm coming from.. I'm an accountant, and I love being an accountant (I know, I'm crazy) because with numbers there's always an answer. It's seriously satisfying.

With real life though.. it's not that easy. Honest answers in life are not like math, man are they hard to find. If you find them at all. But here I am, years later, still trying to figure out the world in which I'll live and die in. Still asking questions, still trying to understand.

Why do I do this?? Well because it's kinda my thing and hey, growth is the name of the game right? Not to mention political choices do ultimately effect me and my families lives right?

Do political choices effect us? Is this even a real question? Let that sink in a minute.

Honestly though, it's mostly because I inherently know, that yes, there can be many sides to a story.. but there can only be ONE TRUE STORY. Is the sky blue or is it brown? Can it be both?

The truth will set you free.

I challenge you to NOTICE who out there makes their arguments using tactic #2? Notice the Left and Right alike. Notice all politicians and all media, no matter their affiliations. Try not to notice the label, rather try to notice honesty and respect. Truth lives in the latter.

Would you agree that tactic #2 uses deflection, avoidance, name calling, and belittling? Do you believe this a mature way to interact with others? Is this how you would want to be treated? Is this how you would choose to teach your children to act? Honest questions, honest answers. No hard feelings.

Challenge yourself to be challenged, disprove the opposing argument. If you can?
Challenge yourself to notice things, make connections, validate things, and be open to whatever you find.
Challenge yourself to be honest with yourself.
Challenge yourself to go find some truthful politicians! ;)

You can Trust the Truth.
