The great cleansing of Martin Luther King's radical legacy

in #politics7 years ago

I've only recently started to foray into video production, so it's pretty raw. Here's my first attempt.

In this video I talk about the 'sanitisation' of Martin Luther King, away from his true opinions of anti-imperialism and radical societal change to something a lot more palatable and acceptable for mainstream opinion.

Sort:

Yeah private prisons are terrible but most prisons aren't private and they're still hell-holes that impose punishment instead of reform. Private or public jails and prisons shouldn't allow slave labor but they do.

Your points are extremely valid. Unfunded liabilities are a train wreck. New slavery is nearly as onerous as old slavery. I sincerely hope you find success in finding a large audience for your content, there is a need for an objective view on historical matters and better analysis of the figures and facts that actually matter to ordinary people.

If you want some levity on MLKJ, the episode of Boondocks is hilarious, at least.

Ah this explains why people always get upset when you invoke King in calls for centrism/peace.
"Guys, King would've wanted us all to just get along. Peace...love...at least that's what the cliffnotes of his works said."
Great work, by the way. Well written and produced. Please keep up the good work!

i hear political right uprise is going on in the US.

Martin Luther will always be a hero of history

"You know they went after King, when he spoke out on Vietnam · He turned the power to the have-nots.... and then came the SHOT"

-RATM, Wake Up 1992

He was murdered as he was readying the Poor People's March.

In an era when populism devours saner voices, the second rate citizens not only suffer on the altar of vested interests but their voices are also subjected to be reprehensible. Undeniably, the country lagged far behind the notion of restorative justice. Where prisons and re-entry programs fail to check recidivistic tendencies among repeat offenders, incessant hatred and lack of reforms in criminal justice systems is eating out the foundations of American diversity
