Opportunities are valuable: Embrace them and seize your moment!!!

in #popcontest7 years ago (edited)

Hey everyone, this is my entry for the last pop contest held by @karenmckersie. It's so sad to hear that she couldn't continue the contest because she is low on support from the others. I enjoyed this contest so far and I'm trying my best to create a beautiful post for the last one.

Wait patiently... Your time will come. Fight for it and never give up!

When people get tired of life and gave up on their dreams, they always have an excuse. ''I was born without luck. This isn't my time. If I had a  better opportunity, I would have been succeeded.''and like that. It's so easy to moan when you had unable embrace your moment.

Opportunities don't come to you. And they don't come so often. We have to get a hold of them. We have to embrace them and seize our moment.

How I gained the best of what I had: My story as a teen Aerobics player

I started to play Aerobics Gymnastics at the age of 11, but it took me 3 years to enter a tournament. I played in group events for two years. But I never had the chance to play in individual events.

Everybody said I was good enough to take part in individual events, but not the teacher-in-charge of Aerobics. Every day, she points out my mistakes, and I felt myself falling down from her words. But I never gave up, I practiced harder and harder.

One day, my luck star arrived. I was able to the difficult skill named straddle cut perfectly. After seeing that, our teacher entered my name to the individual event.

I was so happy! I was looking forward to this moment for years! But I was a little scared and nervous too. Playing all alone is kinda scary. The whole auditorium will be staring at me. But I said myself to be calm. I was sure that I could do well in the competition. I have practiced a lot. I just have to show it to the judge board, right?

Finally, the competition day came. I was trembling with fear and excitement. There were whole a lot of crowds. If something goes wrong, that would be embarrassing as hell.

Then the judges call our names. And there were over 20 competitors! My friend mumbled something to me but I didn't hear anything. I thought I could faint at any time. We were waiting on the line till our numbers were called. I was at the bottom of the list. I waited for a long time, watching others playing. I felt like I'm dreaming.

My number was called. I bowed to the judges and wait for the music to start. Ta-da, Ta-da, Ta-Dah! I felt like I own the floor. I danced all around the court, doing my skills. Everything was going well. I even managed to put a smile on my face.

I bent down on the floor to do my last two skills. In a few seconds, this will be over. I pushed my hands to my sides and bent forward to do the elbow lever. Then a sudden crack was heard and the music stopped. Wham! my hands lost balanced and I kissed the floor. I was hit my head hard I even felt the pain.

''What just happened? Why did the music stop? Just my luck.'' I thought while getting up. ''Now what should I do? Walk off from the court? No, that would disqualify me'' I thought in a millisecond. ''I have to finish this no matter what'' I did the last skill on the place I was standing.

Clap! clap! I heard applause sounds from the front. The judges were standing and supporting me with claps! Then competitors around me also started to clap. That was a great help to me. I managed to the last step to a rhythm and finished my schedule with a pleasant face.

But after I walked off from the court, I could hide my sorrow. I broke into tears. I have fallen out of a skill because of that stupid music. That would cut off a whole point. I thought my whole opportunity was ruined. Others encouraged me with kind words. Some of them praise me for not giving up. They told me that I've done a great job. That washed out my sadness a bit.

Then I headed to the home with my father. I went to the bathroom to get some relaxation after an exhausting day. I heard mom calling me ''Mashi, your teacher is calling''. I told her to answer it. ''Is she mad at me for not doing a good job? But I did my best.''

When I heard came out of the bathroom, mom hugged me and said ''You won the fourth place! Your teacher was so happy. I'm so proud of you!''

I couldn't believe my ears. I had won!!! I was in fourth place from more than 20 competitors! And that was my first time. That means I've gained a lot of success from the opportunity I had. I didn't waste it.

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter Dancing through the fire 'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar Louder, louder than a lion 'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar!

I went to sleep that night, repeating these lines over and over again. A lot of good things happened after that day. I'm so happy that I was able to brace the wonderful chance that came to me!

So go, seize your moment! It's not too late and never too late! Never waste your opportunities! Harvest the best from them! And...

                       NEVER

                                        GIVE

                                                       UP!!!!

I really liked your inspiring story! I'm glad you kept going in the competition even though you were nervous at the start and not sure what to do when the music stopped. You did not give up, and you got 4th place, yayyyy! :)

Thank you so much @kenny-crane :)
If I gave in that day, I may not be in the place where now I am, in the Aerobics society.
I was really nervous but didn't have time to be a wimp because I only had a few seconds to play lol XD
Giving up is not an answer for our problems, we're just running away from them. Thanks again :D

Thanks for sharing your inspiring story. As a teenager, you really have the spirit of determination that many can learn from! Even when there is failure, it is not the end as success will come as long as you did not decide to give up! Not giving up is a small step to future success that is yet to be seen. Upvote and will follow as support!

Thanks for your awesome reply @fun2learn.
Life is not a bed of roses but it isn't cruel as we sometimes think. Life gives us many entry tickets to the roads of success and we have to play them to see how it turns out. Giving up gives nothing but trying always gives us something. So never give up!!! Thank you so much for the support :)
