RE: Why I Just Bought $1600 Steem and Powered Up Plus Enter My Steemfest2 Giveway!

in #powerup7 years ago

I commented on @jerrybanfield's post about the upvoting of your own posts, nobody responded to my questions though... Can I do any harm to my account If I do that... If I upvote others too much, do I harm myself?
Because I thought the whole point of Steemit was to reward interesting posts from others...
I am pretty new here, and really in the dark for the moment

the entire point of steem is to find and reward others, and build community. Your reputation gets increased when others who have a higher rep upvote you. It's supposed to build upon the concept of esteem. Holding others in high esteem.....that is the concept. Plus, if you find posts that go big, you're rewarded. Now it's not perfect....Since you're new, your account has little weight. You don't have a lot of influence over this site right now.
The process of figuring out your unique contribution to Steemit is tough. Steem is a decentralized autonomous organization, and there are many jobs to be done in here. You must know who you are before you begin to earn rewards. Jerry had a big following before he came in here. They are his fans who upvote him. I also had a fair number of people follow me in here from Facebook, so they follow me in here....but most of the work i did was inside Steemit....I try to figure out how to improve things and work behind the scenes helping people....as much as possible....I'm not perfect though..

Thanks for clearing that out for me! I like this platform and my blog keeps growing while I'm doing something a like very much..

I am a stayer, that's for sure!

By the way, what would be fun at being perfect? Nothing to strive for...

@stellabelle I've been trying to get a grip on the platform for several days now and this is honestly the best summary I've found. I'm adding this idea to my header actually, to remind myself and others.
