Slowing down when everything tells you to speed up
Sometimes when you're so busy, and want to do so much, but feel like there isn't enough time in the day to get it all done slowing down seems like the last thing you should do. Why should you be thinking about Slowing down when everything tells you to speed up?
"The best thing you can do for yourself
is slow down and refresh"
It seems so counter intuitive but it is so rewarding, so refreshing, so beneficial both physically and spiritually. God teaches us in His word to live a life of prayer; Jesus repeatedly shows us examples of what it means and looks like living a life of prayer. He gave us His life as a perfect example, the highest of standards. He was far more busy than any of us ever will be but every minute of His day was a productive one. Constantly bearing fruit; So much so that even the disciples asked Him if He could teach them how to pray. His prayer was unlike any other they had known.
Luke 11:1
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he stopped, one of his disciples said to him,
“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
So what stops us from taking time out to pray daily? It is when I feel most busy that I feel most refreshed when I take out time to pray. It is where we connect with out creator and grow in strength, and wisdom. It is where we find peace and rest. There was a reason God created the Sabbath. God made us in a way where, even scientific studies have shown, that rest actually makes us more productive, helps us become better people. So don't let business rule your life, don't let stress take you over; Breathe, Take a moment of prayer.
