Preparing For A Not So Bright Future
Are you a prepped homesteader, someone that is cautiously preparing for an uncertain future? Are you storing fuel, food, other necessities that might be hard to come by?
Unless you are wealthy you probably find it difficult to acquire everything that you think you might need to survive in unknown, unsure future. We read about natural disasters, emp attacks either natural or man made, nuclear wars ,etc. It is difficult to create an island of security for you and your family. Try as you might but thinking of the things that can and might happen is absolutely mind boggling. The more you think about it the longer the list grows. With this in mind I want to add one more item to the list that hardly anyone gives thought to.
When we think of emp attacks , natural disasters , global wars we immediately think of food shortages , fuel shortages , inadequate or no medical care , roving bands of hungry people and any number of other things that turn our world upside down. The one thing that we seldom think about as being important for survival is greenbacks , money. We think that when the "shtf" that we back up,in the corner with our horde of survival supplies and try to ride out the storm. We give very little thought to something that can bring our world to screeching halt.
The world as we know it thrives on credit. We pay house notes with checks. We buy gas , groceries , drugs , internet purchases , clothing , doctor bills , etc.. with credit cards. We are paid by our employer with direct deposit. We use very little cash in our daily life.this is the norm for almost all Americans. So one of the disasters hits or a financial crisis occurs that makes everyone run to the bank or ATM machine to get some cash "just in case". You go to the bank but it is locked. You try the ATM but it delivers nothing. You can only guess why this is happening. Of all U.S. currency half is sitting in banks in other parts of the world. Of the remaining half 50 percent of it is under mattresses or other safe places waiting for hard times to come. That only leaves 25 percent of the total supply to be shared by the entire populace. Without using a bunch of numbers it is easy to see that a run for greenbacks or dollars at banks or ATM's will soon deplete the supply . All of the financial institutions will be forced to close.
Once they are closed all financial transaction will cease. Trucks will stop, service stations will close , food stores will close because no one is delivering food. All of this will happen because banks completely control the flow of credit. Only people that hoarded cash will have any means of making immediate purchases.
Precious metals will come into play but very few people will have any. We can look at all of things that might happen in our future but the cash crisis is a certainty. It is going to happen and it could be very soon.
