5 Ways, how to deal with the lack of time.

in #productivity7 years ago

We all have the same, we all have 24 hours a day. We can’t buy more and no one can take time from us. But how it is possible that someone does as much work in one day as other one in a week? What does that person differently? Let’s talk about how to coordinate and save your time. So we could sleep a bit longer tomorrow.

1)Goals and priorities

If we want to accomplish more things in one day we must determine which of them are the most important for us and what is our goal of the day. I prefer to write everything down so I wouldn’t have to recollect everything I want to do. Task in written form with a hard-set date shall motivate us more.

2) Parets Rule

Did you hear about the 80/20 rule? What does it stand for? Well, 20% of all inputs is the 80% of all consequences or 80% of consequences might have 20% of inputs. This rule was popularized by Timothy Ferriss, who applied it into his life and subsequently wrote a famous book. So, what it is? Twenty percent of the time we invest to finish a task results in 80% of finished work, however the rest of the task the sole 20% will take 80% of the time. Say I want to write an article or in my case a contract, within 10 hours. Its purpose and content would take about 2 hours, another 8 hours I will spent finishing it, ie.: formatting, proof-reading. We understand each other?

3) How do you, spent your time?

Writing an article, a simple computer job, working on a project, answering emails. How much time however, you actually do that task you said you will do, only? Ask yourself if you can focus for the whole duration on the one task only. How many times you check a cellphone, pour a coffee, read through some web, facebook? Aspects that might disturb you while working can be voided by your sheer will power or you know there are certain apps that will disconnect you from facebook for a while etc.

4) Biorhythm

Some of us likes to get up early some are night owls.  We all have different genetics, however it is possible to acculturate different habits. It is necessary to incorporate those habits that suit you, and just you. If you are a night owl, don’t try to get up at 5 am, just stay awake a bit longer, and vice versa. We are individuals, you need to keep that in mind. Find your own time when you are productive and use it wisely. For me the productive time is during the night.

5) No is an answer, an effective one

You have a schedule for the day, you know when you are supposed to do which task, but someone is trying to snowball you into more work? If you did not plan for that additional work, its not super urgent you should say no. If that’s not possible accept the job but do it on the other day, keep your plan.
