What is a brand?

In marketing, a brand is a mark of distinction that can be sensed usually in the form of names or terms, signs or symbols, design elements or even a combination of these, and is utilized for the purpose of identifying and distinguishing the goods or services of one provider or another.

Now how does branding can help your steemit account??

It’s important that your steemit account can be identified among others.
There are already thousands of steemit users in the world. And what it is in you that other steemians will read your post, follow you and become your avid supporter?

Branding is like making a promise. A trustworthy promise that needs to be upheld at all times and of course cost something.

A trustworthy promise makes a strong brand.
A trustworthy promise makes a strong position in steemit.

So what can you promise to your readers or supporters?

Why do we need to brand our steemit account?

What’s the use of it?

Functions of branding

1. It identifies the product or a service (In steemit, writings and projects)

  • Owning a brand means owning a unique position in steemit. Because of your uniqueness, you send a different kind of vibes to the readers. They will get to know what you can offer and what they can expect from you.

Are you an animal-lover?
Most probably you write about animals.

Do you like cooking?
Then write your recipes and post it in steemit.

Branding helps you to own a place in steemit that if you become successful in owning this specific place, no one can easily take that away from you.

2. It communicates messages

  • Every article or comment we write reflects our personality. Even the projects you host or support and contest you join. Use these activities to attract followers and show your charm.

Communication is important when you are trying to please some steemians. Well yes! It’s okay to please people but you have to make sure that you’re pleasing the right people.

    Now, what you can do?

One is to entertain them by replying to their comments. Your goal here is to build a community within your place.
Think of a strategy to make your customer (steemians) stay longer in your place.

Why pay so much attention to brand?

Branding yourself is showing to them that you are confident.

That you know what you want to do and you know how to do it.
    I think it’s very simple.

Always bear in mind that readers must benefit from your posts to find you useful.

For me, it’s simply enjoying what you write and projects that you do to make people find you meaningful. By that automatically you can attract like-minded steemians.
In short, find niche and projects that are interesting for you. Effortlessly steemians will love your being genuine and sincere in what you do.

  • Transparency

Being real to this community is a key. Being pretentious is expensive not only in money but also in time. Why need to pretend when everything in steemit is valuable?

Don’t be afraid to be the real you. Don’t worry too much that some steemians will find you boring. We have different things to offer. So, don’t hide there somewhere and be proud of your uniqueness.

Tips for building up the personality of your steemit account

Steemians are finding meaning, don’t expect that someone will follow you or upvote your post just for nothing. So you have to take care of all your followers because they don’t follow you for no reason. And for me finding meaning is something personal.

Levels of Meaning

1. Attributes

When we say attributes this is more on the physical side. Did you guess it right?
Your profile picture and cover photo are the first ones to tell about you. Don’t be too lazy to display decent pictures, please.

Another is your titles, make it captivating that if someone happened to visit your profile he/she will click the “follow button”.

2. Benefits

If I love photography, why would I care to visit philosophical steemians?
Usually when I find someone to follow, I just quickly scan his/her post and from right there I can tell if this person is worth following or not.

Be consistent in what you write.

Reflect on your writings what’s in your bio.
The more consistent you are the more you can attract steemians with the same interest as you.
And if I found a post useful then congrats! You have a new follower!

3. Values

Values always start with you. It is a strong foundation of your existence.

Steemit is a community where we have the freedom to express ourselves without the fear that someone may condemn us.
A community who pursue different passions and contribute these to the betterment of the society.
You have to decide first about the things you can offer. Your vision clearly defines your values. Make it simple so that people can easily communicate with you and share it with them. This is essential because to be a successful steemian you need a group of steemians who will believe and willing to share these values with you.

4. Culture

Culture is very colorful. Appreciating others culture is allowing ourselves to explore life in its different angles. Knowing the culture of a certain community is also knowing its people. Whether you want to share your own culture or learn from a different culture, steemit is a great avenue to introduce our diversities.

Recently, I have read @surpassinggoogle’s latest post, SteemGigs Was Rebuilt And Is Now Useable (Mostly Basic Functionalities e.g Freelancer Profiles, SteemGig Editor etc). Code Will Be On Utopian Soonest!.
I greatly support @steemgigs because this allows every steemian to show what they’re capable of doing and contribute this to the community.

For the building of https://steemgigs.org, i wanted to stick to the developers from "nations" that world calls; "developing" because i don't believe in developing or developed, for i believe in "everyone". - @surpassinggoogle

Black and white, tall and short or big and small. Everyone has story to tell. Show what’s yours here in steemit. A place where everyone is welcome!

5. Personality

how do you handle yourself?

Are you open to others opinion?

What’s the attitude you show to your writings?

Your steemit personality can be displayed on your posts.

Are you funny? Probably you have a fun way of expressing yourself.
Are you sentimental? It can be seen in your choice of words.
Like I said it needs transparency and you can only do that by being REAL.

Develop the brand strategy

What are the different strategies you can make for a successful brand as a steemian?

  • Product information (writings and projects)

In marketing this is the kind of products you can sell to the market.
In steemit this is the list of post/topics that you can write and projects that you can join.
You already have a vision, now make this vision a reality through your posts.

What’s in your bio?

Show it to us! Do it.

  • Market Information

Pleasing the right people. This doesn’t mean that you need others approval to go well in steemit community.
You already know what you can offer right? Next is getting to know other steemians.
What are the existing problems in steemit?
Do you have the skill to solve that problem?
Offer it to us. You can make tutorials by writing or making videos. If you become someone helpful in this community. Then, there’s a place exclusively for you.

  • Trademark Criteria

It is you alone who can decide, how people will think of you as a steemian. It’s your own criteria and you just have to show it naturally.

  • Brand name objective

Why are you posting stuff like that?
That will be based on your goals.
Do you want to merely express yourself?
Do you just want some listeners to encourage you?
Or Maybe helping the community?

Each of us has own reason why we are here. Tell people why.

Tell us your stories. :)

Thanks for this post, I find it very educative. I just have a little contribution to make.
I have come to understand that steemit is one of the best online community and we are the members of the community, together we form a chain of communication learning from one another all over the world.
The only way to live happily in this community is to be 100% realistic. Let your words define you and you will be understood easily.

Another thing we should consider is the nature of what we post. It is best to always be positive in what you write about because you never can tell who will read it someday. Your post may save an ignorant man from what he does not know, you just can't tell.

In general we have all been doing a great job and there is room for better to be done.
Thanks to @ishteldalosa for making this post.
And thanks to @surpassinggoogle for sharing this post

Thank you for your comment. You're right! We have to be positive in writing article to spread positivity in the community. We have to encourage new steemians to keep on writing. :)

Always good to read about this. But after reading so many posts I am still not as successful as I expected. I have commented on 100s of posts, have many followers(250+) but still my posts don't do well.
I think its patience and consistency which I need to concentrate on. I give as much personal touch to my profile as possible. But still very few turn up to my post.

Don't lose hope @blog-beginner. I'm also experiencing it so I told myself that I just have to enjoy writing and don't focus too much on rewards. Instead I'm using my articles to help new steemians.

You said it all.....i have learnt a lot from this.
I think i have to make some adjustments.
Thanks for this

That's okay @jerelyn! as long as you delivered your topic well. :)

Nice suggestions! I try to do those in Korean, but always find difficulties posting in English because of my poor English ability. But I’ll try:) By the way thanks for upvoting my post last time! I followed you!

It's okay @notos. This is applicable in any language. It just takes practice. :)

Love your content very informative. More of this please!

Thank you. This is my only way of helping new steemians. :)
