Promo-Steem Revival

in #promo-steem5 years ago

Steem inflation, ideally, should be used to onboard new users, that in exchange would increase awareness/price of Steem. I see a lot of big whales looking for things to curate. I urge them to not only look inward but also outward. Both are needed.

We can use the diehards we have here on Steem, upvote them for bringing new Steem users in, or spreading awareness which has the same indirect outcome of onboarding.

This is my whale call, please, look at the #promo-steem tag & “introduceyourself” tags, let's put Steem in the hands of new users, but also the Steemians currently bringing in value for us.

Example: I want to run a Hong Kong contest next. People write about Hong Kong and share on Twitter and tell people to share their stories, immutably, on the Steem blockchain.

This type of marketing just makes sense, and we are not too mighty to go after the long hanging fruits of marketing. We have a badass product, we have a means to incentive onboarding, what in the hell are we waiting for?

Whatever the hot topic of the week is, Steemians should be all over it with correctly tagged content and sharing on outside socials; it’s the bread and butter of going viral!

I believe it is up to us large stakeholders to guide content creators in the right direction for the overall ecosystem. SMTs will mostly be what rewards OG content creators, Steem will mostly be used to onboard new users & to continue to decentralize our DPOS governance.

Content creators here just lack a little direction, I see them trying their best, but we can push the rewards to content that helps make Steem go viral, and it'll happen. Just check the “YANGGANG” tag here, before 3 days ago there was 4 post, and one wasn't even about Yang.

I am pro Steem reward pool inflation because I have a dream, a dream to onboard the masses. I am also aware it is time to put up or shut up.

But, when I see shit like this, it shows me that we are not making great use of the inflation. This person took a year off Steem, just to login and see nothing that is trending on the outside world is trending on Steem. And, this user will probably log on in another year, if Steem is lucky, and what will he find then?

I am just one whale, but with support, we can really make some change! I am looking to powerup more into my Dan account to double my onboarding efforts.

OCDB is in on the effort, YooDoo crew is up for it, Threespeak is up for it, who else wants to help coordinate an effort to shoot Steem to the moon?

Blueprint: Create relative content to trending topics that benefit both parties involved. IE: “YANGGANG” helps Andrew Yang because he is being censored, and he wants to join a platform like Steem if you listen to him talk.
This also helps Steem, as it is a trojan horse way to advertise. We are supporting Yang while simultaneously driving people to front ends like Steemit, Steempeak.

Same with what’s going on in Hong Kong, they are being censored, we can make content about Hong Kong, people who have stories/info to share who are in HK. We are helping spread the word about HK while getting exposure from outside socials to Steem front ends & the incredible use case of the Steem blockchain.

^ Content creators, when making relevant content, always use the most relevant tag first, and add promo-steem as the last tag. Example: Put “yanggang” tag first, then any other relevant tags, like “letyangspeak” – and very last put #promo-steem – so we can locate your work more easily.

I will support quality onboarding initiates tagged with #promo-steem tag. Reach out anytime if you have any ideas for an onboarding contest, initiative or plan. Cheers!

I’ve been gagging to make a new quality STEEM advert/promo video for a while now but that thing called work and family keep getting in the damn way (haha)

I’ve got ideas; I just need local performers, some spare time and motivation.

I really want to see STEEM do well, so I’ll make an effort on this!
Nice revamp of the #promo-steem tag 😎

That would be amazing, DM what would motivate you do so :)

Cheers. Yeah I’m keen to seek some direction from key Steemians like yourself.
Things like; what are the actual real selling points of STEEM and who is it we are trying to target.

I have ideas, but I think it’s healthy to get perspective from those who have a more technical or philosophical standpoint.

I’ll find you on Discord? :)

nice ideas here

Just a random association I made with something I started soon. Maybe I did not start it in an intelligent enough way to drive people to the tag but I don't know if and where I can tag in Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/manoldonchev/artists-on-steem/

I think I need to get smarter about it and share more.

We should team up! Make a post about how you are doing on pinterest and use the tag #promo-steem and I will support your work.

Sure, it's the beginning of something long-term. I hope it gets results at some point. Even if not my own audience, people from Steem who see what I try to do and join the effort might be successful. I will try to explain it in a post soon.

It's really humble of you to come forward and make some changes with all the efforts and tbh if many more comes forward then a change is imminent.

While many are loosing hope due to various factors (price, low support on quality contents, DV Trails and so on) but yeah long term users will sure find out a way to keep on and those new users at th least should get some taste of what they are actually missing and even if they get a slight push that will be enough for them to keep on going and bring others along with them.

Looking forward to the initiative !!

I have seen many alternative media providers join up to Steem only to not get the traction they deserve and now many have gone. There are still some around and posting away with some success. It is getting quite difficult to monetise their content due to censorship on other platforms and I still believe Steem could be their saving grace. Supporting them more as a community would really help bring their followers here where they can talk and comment in a free environment.
For me personally I am all for onboarding my own community to Steem but with my small stake it is a big risk to bring them all here to only have upvotes from me ( at the start anyway) Maybe when SMTs arrive thing can change but I really think I only have one shot at enticing them away from Facebook and it still doesn't feel like the right time.
The lack of direct messages within Steem makes it a very restrictive social media.

Great effort! Let me know if I can help out in anyway.

Hi, I'm new to this platform and I'm lacking onboarding informations. Where can I find some How to?

Hey, welcome to Steem! Check out https://steemsavvy.com/ for more info on how Steem works.

I love the idea of the Steem blockchain becoming the (un)official news platform for people from countries where mainstream servers get censored. Sounds like an awesome concept. I wish I had that in my mind when I was in Cuba...

Hey! I'm from Cuba. We have a little team here, and we love steemit and steem. We also think that is a good idea to have steemit as an alternative way to the bad mainstream that we have in here.

Steem inflation, ideally, should be used to onboard new users, that in exchange would increase awareness/price of Steem.

Exactly right. Accelerating onboarding is key. The entire value proposition of Steem rests on it.

I think it's something we've should've been on for a long time, sometimes I sit and wonder what will really make whales and everyone alike to see the need for onboarding. It's something we really shouldn't take lightly. I hope people with experience on how This can be done rightly should step up.

Tomorrow is gone and today is looking bright. I am confidence we can make a coordinated onboarding effort if we really focus as a community. Cheers, Josediccus!

sign up has to become easy and the interface is still way too user unfriendly... but I am seeing progress

The problem with steemit is timing and greed, the same people always voting for the same people for years. Nothing has changed, nor will it until there is a limit to how many times you can vote for the same author per day or week. You only have to look at who makes the most money per post per day, to see who is on whose "auto vote list".
Or make a random decay to rewards with no set timing for the best time to vote (scrap the 5 minute rule) Just my 1 cents worth of thoughts.

If anyone is guaranteed to make good money on a post, most people will automatically based on return, auto-vote that person.

Then new people may stay here instead of only being here for a few weeks then leaving. (due to no returns)

Another problem is the mindset of the very people you are appealing to, as I have lost count of the amount of times I have seen those in the long standing "clique" state user retention is not important, and to that end, good luck changing their minds.

You only have to look at who makes the most money per post per day, to see who is on whose "auto vote list".

Nice idea :-)
