RE: Psychedelic drugs are much more than just illegal substances
Anything can be a gateway drug..one can use TV, shopping, video games, etc all as a means to forget about their problems.
If anything I would say in a lot of instances psychedelics can totally backfire on you if you intend to use it as a gateway drug. And I see that all the time when people think that they are going to see cool colors or some other generic thing and then are treated as to what they think of as a "bad trip".
I'd say psychedelics should be seen more as an exit drug from highly addictive drugs such as alcohol, cigarettes, opiates, etc.
I understand what are you saying. I'm just saying my experience with people. Using psychedelic plants can be helpful if someone is stuck in some addiction or behaviour, but it doesn't mean it can heal you if you don't want it. In the end it is up to you, for that you don't any plant or anything. I would say psychedelic plants can just open the door more widely, but it's up to you to cross it. And where that door leads to?...to your subconsciousness in my opinion. This is long and interesting topic. While I was writing this comment I thought of plant iboga, plant that has been showed very helpful with addictions. My opinion that one of major reasons it is very helpful is that addicts come to take it with desire to be heald from their addiction. Iboga spirit is only showing them the path they already wanted to go. Now imagine some addict who don't want any help taking iboga. Would iboga be so successful in his case? I don't think so. That is why I say it is up to you first, then psychedelic plant can be useful tool.
Ok I get what your saying.
Pretty much this is the reason why people need to go into trips with the right intention. Like what your saying is that you need to go in with the right mindset. I agree with you and probably would give it a very small chance for people that aren't open up to a healing experience to actually see the help they need.
I went through a lifetime of depression and I waited for a very long time till I felt it was the right take to take my first psychedelic journey. I couldn't believe in one dose and day how much mushrooms were able to change my mindset about so many things. It's really astonishing how 1 trip can change so many things about you.
I'm glad you had that experience and I'm glad you feel what I want to say...you waited for the right moment. That you took mushrooms few years before you did, you will probably had 'darker' experience. All psychodelics are just showing you exit doors from your problem, it is up to invidiual to go thru
