The theory of consciousness
So what is consciousness and intelligence?
One of the mysteries of the universe, aside from the origin of it itself is consciousness. What is consciousness and intelligence? What happens to our consciousness when we die? What if our consciousness is really our soul and thus a manifesting energy or another form of it? Well that might sound fantasy-like but we'll try to work it out.
When we ask ourselves "where am i?" the right answer would be inside our forehead or the prefrontal cortex. This is where rational thinking and objective intelligence is processed —this part of the brain is called human brain. The structure or our brain is actually composed of different parts which also can be found in other animals or species. This is due to evolution.
The reason why the brain is structured as it is, is due to evolution. Example, we have the reptilian brain at the back of our brain which is also responsible for our vision and also the most ancient part of our brain. This reptilian brain also governs balance and territoriality. This is called reptilian brain because it is the part of the brain you can see in reptiles.
Then just above it, the center part of the brain which is called the monkey brain is the part of the brain which is responsible for our emotions.
But what the hell is consciousness and intelligence?
Well these two is one of a kind. One of the mysteries of the universe and its beginning. How do we acquire consciousness?
Michio kaku, a professor of theoretical physics at the University of New York and one of the pioneer of String Theory developed or theorized an explanation to the levels of consciousness.
According to him, thru the process of observation he came up with a theory of the unit of consciousness. Observing (theoretically) the model of evolution. That based on evolution, consciousness is a number of feedback loops required to create a model of your position in space with the relationship to other other organisms and the relationship with time.
For example, a vine. Or a plant, any plant. The units of consciousness of a plant is to understand temperature, the weather and humidity, where light is pointing, gravity etc.
In the case of humans, level 1 consciousness would be our reptilian brain —it has to understand our position in space like how reptiles are very good in determining their position in space especially for their survival and preying.
And then the monkey or mammalian brain which is our level 2 consciousness which tells us our position or role as an individual and role in regards to tribe, our emotional aspects and social hierarchy.
The human consciousness would be the 3rd level which is level 3. It tells us our position in time by running simulations into the future —which only we humans can do. Have you seen your dog planned? Well we don't and we'll never. Bears doesn't plan hibernating they just do it as their consciousness (level 1) tells them to do it.
Animals and other species doesn't plan the next day agenda nor do they have the conception of "tomorrow" and time itself. And that is what our brain does.
So looking at the evolution chart, it tells us not just the metamorphosis of an organism from unicellular to a complex formation like humans. It tells us also that it is the process of understanding our position in space, in respect to others with our emotions etc and with time by running simulations into the future. That is consciousness.
But what is the nature of this consciousness? Well as a hypothesis, what if consciousness is energy which is why this structures (brain structures) work? It's not new that in some beliefs, energy is always correlated with souls —and is correlated with reincarnation.
Well, if souls are indeed just a manifestation of energy then souls tend not to be destroyed and lost but only takes another form, according to the law of conservation of energy.
And I read this article which prove that souls have mass —the 21 gram theory. That humans lost an approximately 21 grams of mass when it dies. So what is its connection with energy and consciousness? Well, Special Relativity or the Relativistic mass. When we die, we lost all the energy and thus, the energy which manifesting as mass according to E=mc².. And since according to the law of conservation of information, information cannot be destroyed —hence can be retained. Is this the mechanics of reincarnation?
Well, what can you say?
