Expectations matter. They affect your ability to follow throw and your ability to succeed. Having a wrong expectations can be the difference between success and failure. I definitely have that issue in the past. Expecting way too much, way too soon.

Why people fail and give up?

One of the biggest reason is that they underestimate the time, energy, cost and emotional labour that their dream or project requires. It is that simple.

Most of the time we expect something for nothing. It is cost associated whit all desires that we have like, big life changes, big paydays, big succeess in business, great relationships.

If you want something that is valuable and rare, than you have to be able to "pay" heavy cost, since this is necessary to create or have that valuable and rare thing in your life. You have to know what is that cost and ask yourself, if you are willing to pay that cost.

Problem whit wrong expectations is that you get easily frustrated whit your project. Maybe you work really hard on that project for months and you do not see any results or progress, so you quit.

Expectations that you set determine your level of perseverance. It is very important to know that the beginning stages are frustrating and they suck, but you have to just keep going, specially if you have a big project.

Understanding the significance, and the challenge that you are going to face by preparing mentally and emotionally and putting proper plans and strategies is essential.

Expectations also determine how you judge yourself and your progress. If you want to create a business, where you already earning a lot of money in 6.months, which is pretty unrealistic expectation, you might think that is something wrong whit you if you not reach that goal.

Great example can be seen on Steemit, where many people sign up, expecting to earn a lot of money just by signing up. When they realise that this is not going to work they quit. There are many accounts that are just "ghosts". What a shame.

When you expect something to be easy, effortless and quick you do not have the urge to put a hard work and dedication, which is required to succeed in anything.

Conclusion

Do the research. Study the people who already succeeded in what you want to accomplish and see what cost they paid. For example, how much time it took them to be where you want to be.

The first week I spent countless hours voting and resteeming. My votes and posts added up to a whopping .24 cents lol. I dud cry. But I have faith in Steemit. Everyone seems to be real about issues and generally good hearted people. Plus I love the stat reports, contests, art and of course making $ in my own channel. Not so bad after all :)

Just hang in there and do not give up, this is amazing platform.

I so agree here. Setting realistic expectations is so damn important. When you can expect to fail a lot, then it won't bother you when you do. When you understand that it will require a lot more effort than it may seem, then it's so much easier to commit and persist!

Great post @bloomberg215. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my two minute thought experiment: [INTERACTIVE INSPIRATION EXPERIMENT] Could You Feel Better In 2 Minutes? Find Out Now!
