RE: Why do we hide our unique nature, our true self?

Comparison can surely rob us of our potential.

Only person that we should compare ourselves with, is ourselves.
We should constantly strive to become better at whatever we value in our lives, but to become better than we were yesterday. Not that someone else is today. They didn't have the same route, or even they don't have the same intention. They could be naturally gifter or won some kind of life's lottery. We don't have a clue.

We think that if we're better than someone next door, it will make us happy. Then we bump into someone greater, and we get to the same excuse. That's why people that become rich because of the wrong reasons, never actually get to be happy and enjoy their time, because there's always next person up the latter. It's an endless game of trying to get there. The wisdom lies in realizing that we're already there. We've achieved life. There's nothing to accomplish but to create our own meaning to this beautiful existance.

Thank you! Very true, from the space of comparing we will always find people who more lucky or succesful or ... than us. But in a way, I even feel we would be better off if we don't compare ourselves to ourselves. Looking into past or looking into future just keeps us distracted from the potential and possibilities that we have now, this very moment that we are living in. If we miss this moment, we miss everything. So yes, we're already there, we've already achieved - and now is the time to create our own meaning to this beautiful existence!! :)

Interesting point of view. However, I think it would help to compare your past self in order to understand your talents and possibilities, and then push them to whatever extent you want.
Also, it's reminding yourself every once in a while, not compulsivley thinking about it.

At the end of the day, you can even compare yourself with others and be happy, it just depends what is the place it's coming from.
