Social Media - The Brain & YOU
We Are Social By Nature
Yes, even us INTJ personality types.
Social connections are the single most important thing for human survival.
I know many people would possibly rather a sandwich than a hug, especially a delicious toasted footlong from one of the many discerning proprietors of sandwich delights, but at a survival level, the fact that social associations are antecedent of food may very well surprise you.
We Need Each Other
Without a social connection, there is no impetus to motivate another human to feed an infant. Without this social connection, it matters not if the food exists, because ipso facto; what good is food to a starving infant, if no human cares enough to feed the infant?
The wiring of the brain's social system ensures the survival of the species by making us reliant upon each other and giving us the internal value to care for someone in a manner that could very well save their lives.
Our Meta Brain
Without the brain's amazing social wiring, there would be little to no consequence that would stop someone simply murdering anyone whom they deemed to be a minor annoyance, though there would be few repercussions for such actions if there was nobody to care about justice for others.
How does this relate to social media?
Sites like Steemit give us the opportunity to share experiences, ideas and support each other.
For many of us cryptospace dwellers, such an exchange can keep us sane when hodling cryptocurrency coins or keeping patient.
It may seem like a real stretch to compare the brain's survival imperative to social media benefits, but there's some serious social leverage to be gained by gaining influence by like-minded people.
What are your thoughts on social media and its positive effects?
Not everyone is an bitcoin fanatic and many people on Steemit are enjoying a fresh social media presence.
