Evil, Dorian Gray-style. This might be the reason of your friend being THAT angry.

You think being angry is just someone’s reaction to the resentment from the outside world? You believe something just did not work out, either circumstances or people prevented your friend from success, and now he has become wicked? Yes, this could be a fairly common scenario. But sometimes you simply can’t figure out the reason for someone close to you being that antisocial.

Pay attention to the way the person manifests his anger. There is a certain kind of anger that drains you - and there is one that inspires you. Does your friend find relief after displacing his anger on someone (for example, you)? Are his eyes shining? Does he find pleasure in being evil?

Revenge can’t serve as an indicator here. Even a kindest and a most peaceful person can feel satisfaction with revenge from time to time. The joy of creating irrational evil is something fundamentally different. It can be described as sadism - but Dorian Gray-style evil is just a particular case of sadism, so it should not be generalized too much.

Such type of evil develops in people who are emotionally and intellectually satiated. They are bored with life, it can not give them anything new. In economy, there are extensive and intensive ways of development - so, the carriers of Dorian Gray-style evil can develop extensively for decades: travel around the planet, read books, get acquainted with new people ... Intensively, they have reached their ceiling. Nothing can impress or surprise them.

They are usually very smart, but their philosophical approach to life is somewhat hypertrophied. The flexibility of their mind has grown into overall permissiveness. Tolerance has mutated into unscrupulousness. This is the case when something infinitely large merges with something infinitely small and super-scale development becomes equivalent to degradation.

The carriers of Dorian Gray-style evil are well aware of the essence of globalization, multiculturalism, multi-confessionalism, postmodernism and decentralization. You can’t call them disappointed, though - they have no bitterness about the lack of a significant core in life. Absence of a semantic kernel is a norm for them.

They do not have stereotypes. This is good for creativity and bad for everyday life. For neurotypical people, socially acceptable stereotypes help remain a harmonious part of the society. If these stereotypes are removed, the gravity that holds the person in the orbit of the society will be lost. In case with Dorian Gray-style evil, there is no such gravity.

After losing the ability to experience both intellectual joy of knowledge and vivid emotions (which are hushed up by an indifferent mind), such people find their single outlet in observing the emotions of others. What’s important, negative emotions look more spectacular than positive ones. They hurt deeper, they are unsettling, they provoke unpredictable actions. Once in a while, a Dorian can see something that might surprise him.

The uncontrolled emotional splash on the part of an innocent victim is a most striking contrast to the impenetrable ice of Dorian Gray’s psychics. In the book Dorian, as you remember, was not a bad person. He was just cursed with eternity, which he became fatally fed up with.

Do not try to influence him emotionally - you will not break his armor. It is better to create conditions for his maximum self-realization, whether professional or creative. Success is something that can not breathe powerful positive emotions into smart, stale people. And when impenetrable ice floes a little, it may become more susceptible to normal human feelings.
