Steemit Learning Challenge-S21W5; Plantar Fasciitis
Hi friends,
I am Jyoti from India. Here I am going to participate in the SLC S21 W5 contest: https://steemit.com/hive-127432/@ashkhan/steemit-learning-challenge-s21w5-physical-therapy-intervention-plantar-fasciitis organized by @ashkhan
Plantar Fasciitis |
---|
What's Plantar Fasciitis? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of pain in the bottom of a person's heel. Millions of patients seek treatment for this condition each year. Plantar fasciitis occurs when the band of tissue that supports the arch of the foot becomes inflamed or irritated. The plantar fascia is a thin, long tendon found beneath the skin on the sole of a person's foot.
Symptoms
Many people with plantar fasciitis complain of a stabbing pain in the bottom of the foot. The pain is usually worse in the morning with the first few steps a person takes after getting out of bed. The pain can also be triggered after a person gets up after a long rest or when a person stands for a long time. Some people experience more pain after exercise.
Causes
The plantar fascia absorbs most of the pressure and stress that people put on their feet. However, in some cases, too much pressure can damage or tear the tissue. Our body's natural reflection to injury is pain or inflammation. This can cause not only heel pain but also plantar fasciitis stiffness.
How would you diagnose a plantar fasciitis? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
Ignoring plantar fasciitis can cause heel pain, which can interfere with our daily activities. Changing our walking pattern to relieve pain may result in back, foot, knee, or hip problems. It is critical to seek early treatment for this illness. If you have any issues about plantar fasciitis, consult with a podiatrist.
If you have telltale signs of plantar fasciitis with no other underlying injury, you are a good candidate for physical therapy.
The process begins with an initial evaluation in which a physical therapist reviews your health history to rule out other conditions that could be contributing to your foot pain. They will ask about your daily activities, identifying habits and tasks that may increase tension and stress on the plantar fascia.
A physical therapist will conduct tests to determine which movements trigger the pain. They may massage your toes by gently pressing down on them toward your ankle and pressing down on your heel to see if there is pain. They will also assess your gait to see if the way you walk is affecting your symptoms. Physiotherapists help people with plantar fasciitis reduce their pain and restore their ability to walk.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practising.
Ball/Frozen bottle rolling
I have practiced three types of exercises for this task. The first is ball/frozen bottle rolling.
Frozen bottle rolling massage is a useful method for relief pain from plantar fasciitis, and it can be done at home using a frozen water bottle. Plantar fasciitis develops when the hard tissue on the bottom of your foot, called the plantar fascia, becomes inflamed.
Although I don't have any pain in my feet at the moment, I have explained how to do this exercise here. First, I took a frozen bottle and sat on a chair and rolled my foot over the bottle. When I roll it like that, I feel a cold sensation in my foot and the blood flow decreases. I hope it will help those who have pain.
Calf Stretch
The second thing I tried was a Calf Stretch. For this, I sit on the floor, stretch my legs, take a scarf, place the middle of it on my foot, and pull the two ends with my hands. At the same time, I stretch by pushing my foot on my legs. Doing this alternately reduces the pain in the foot.
Heel Raise Exercise
Stand with your heels raised, using a table or wall as support, then slowly lower your heels to the floor. Raise your heels again and stand on your toes. Doing this alternately gives your ankles and feet a good workout, which can help reduce pain.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.
I have never had pain in my feet. However, after doing this exercise, I feel a freshness in my feet. Similarly, if we continue to do this, I think we will not get that Plantar Fasciitis disease. I think we can continue to do these exercises to prevent that Plantar Fasciitis disease and to take care of our feet.
I would like to invite

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (2.7/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about plantar fasciitis, it's symptoms, causes, but you didn't add it's types. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing special tests but you didn't mention investigations tests. It would be better if you add tests like X ray, MRI , ultrasound play important role in assessment of plantar fasciitis. Great.
Task 3 (3.8/4)
You try the calf stretch, bottle rolling and heel raise. You did the calf stretch and heel raise correctly. But in bottle rolling, it would be better to roll bottle on all sole of the foot not on a specific region. Always remember to cold therapy & rest is the best therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from plantar fasciitis or any type of heel pain. Thank you.
Excellent initiative! The exercises you provided seem very effective. I want to do them regularly. Good luck for the contest.
interesting post, sisters I hope you are always healthy, greetings, support, sisters, I'm still a beginner ☺️
