Organizations cannot make you free. No man from outside can make you free; nor can organized worship, nor the immolation of yourselves for a cause, make you free; nor can forming yourselves into an organization, nor throwing yourselves into works, make you free. You use a typewriter to write letters, but you do not put it on an altar and worship it. But that is what you are doing when organizations become your chief concern.

From the Dissolution of the Order Speech, Star Camp at Ommen (1929), Jiddu Krishnamurti

The order "Star of the East" was an organization founded by the Theosophical Society in 1921. Its purpose was to proclaim and sustain the young Jiddu Krishnamurti as the new World Teacher. But something went wrong.
Krishnamurti, after having a major spiritual realization, understood deeply that “truth is a pathless land” and, faithful to his new insights, he proclaimed the dissolution of the order. Despite his refusal to be considered a world teacher, until his death he continued traveling around the world giving talks and spiritual assistance to large groups of people.
He’s one of the main source of inspiration regarding my spiritual practice and I often listen to his talks. A Krishnamurti’s talk can seem a little repetitive first, daunting at times. But I assure you that, if you learn to listen with an open heart and a free mind, his words will become powerful and transformative.
