After a long winter

Finally anyway. After a long winter in which there is not much else to do than sit inside, and walk the 'compulsory rounds' with the dogs, I am generally so cold that I don't want to go outside for fun. How different it will be as soon as spring starts.

The best time of the year when I get the feeling of waking up from hibernation, the time when you see nature come to life. All the trees show their lovely blossoms and the time when my battery can be recharged by the warm rays of the sun hitting my skin.

Moving the same mountain

The double layer of clothing can be omitted, and I feel like doing all kinds of things again. Not that I get to so many things right now, because the dogs also have in their little balls that they want to do everything outside. And together we can move mountains, but unfortunately for me, it is often the same mountain that I have to move.

Just imagine!

Imagine, you are sweeping in the garden, the dry dead leaves that you already swept up in the fall have ended up in piles in the backyard during the winter storms. Not bad, we once invented brooms for that. Yes, I just use a broom and not a leaf blower! Anyway, I grab that broom full of 'enthusiasm' and start sweeping. Within 10 seconds the first dog is in front of me with a ball. I accidentally swipe the ball with the leaves a meter and a half forward. Dog happy, because whether I throw the ball away, kick it away and wipe it away does not matter at all. Lana is happy because the ball has moved! Unfortunately for me, she dived so enthusiastically on her ball that the leaves that I had neatly swept into a pile are now scattered again due to her enthusiasm. Sigh, we'll just start over again.

Time for tea

After this scenario has taken place at least 10 times, the leaves are FINALLY where they should be. Right in front of the compost bin so all I have to do is scoop them in. And while I walk in to boil the water for a well-deserved cup of tea, Skipper decides that such a mountain of leaves is a lot of fun! When I come out again I see leaves flying around and a cheerful Skipper digs and jumps that it is a sweet delight. Oh dear, look at him now have fun I think… before I realize that I can now start sweeping again. Because my great treasure has turned the neatly tidy mountain of swept leaves into a sea of leaves that are scattered. To top it off, he runs a few more laps, redistributing more cluttered junk.

Oh great, there goes Myla too!

Myla is now infected by this happy spring behavior of Skipper and Lana. And even though her hind legs don't always want to be good anymore, she is still happy and happy, and still likes to run around. Still likes to steal a ball from Lana's nose and decides to join Skipper to help. Enthusiastically she also dives into the mountain of leaves, and despite the fact that I would prefer to scream that they are not allowed to do that, I cannot get it over my heart.

After all, it only gets spring once a year. The winter has also been long for the dogs and I can understand very well that they also get spring fever in their balls. The enthusiasm and joy with which they jump around are just so endearing and endearing to watch… and my hard work has at least made sure they played the dogs well.

Enjoying my tea

I go in, make my tea and sit on the garden bench by our gazebo. Enjoying my cup of tea I watch the dogs happily jump around, filling the whole place with sand, leaves and twigs.

When my partner comes home he asks how my day has been and with a smile I say… “Well, we've been busy cleaning up outside”. He looks at me in surprise and asks what I have cleaned up. “Well I swept all the leaves that had been blown into place during the winter and I was ready to put it in the compost bin, but the dogs were so much fun playing with that leaf that I didn't get around to it . They have neatly distributed it all over the place… so… I may again tomorrow! ”

We look at each other with a smile, we look at the dogs and end the day with a satisfied ...

"The dogs had fun, played outside all day, they are very tired again"
