Aleksa's Book Review: Me & White Supremacy

I've decided to read the many tomes of arcane lore that weave into a tapestry of race relations and our place in them. When I say "our" I mean, of course, the US - as no other place in the world has the problem of systemic racism exaggerated to such an extent. First up is a book that purports to be a self-work handbook for the anti-racist.

Understanding the elements that make up white supremacy (not the cross-burning kind) consists of elements such as white silence, white flight, white fragility, tone policing, tokenism, fetishisation and various other microaggressions against black people. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and the book makes sure you know that your racism is intrinsic to your skin colour if you're white (one step removed).

The book lands very flat with me as no concrete set of steps can make one an anti-racist. Of course, there is 0 nuance in matters of "who is racist", because where those who preach tolerance and inclusion are just as racist as those lynching minorities from telephone poles. The book reminds me of a flowchart outlining Freudian psychoanalysis that always leads to more money being transferred from the patient to the therapist.
