Hello everyone,
Something that's been on my mind for a while, it seem like were getting a black slavery movie every year now,
or a movie that shows black discrimination of some sort, movies like Birth of a Nation, 12 years a slave, Django and so many others.
Some are actually really good movies that touch on the emotions of that time period and most receive critical
recognition, awards and all sorts of positive praise so that consumers will go watch them.

In my humble opinion I think its time to vote these movies out by not spending our money on them. I think any kind of racism or discrimination is bad really bad! but these movies only seem to fan the flames and keep them alive.
I'm curious to hear any comments. This posting is not intended to upset anyone, I want racism and discrimination to end for good! Thanks for reading it.

I feel as if we live in a time where anybody can have a very loud voice with such little cost. American minorities can now express the way they feel to a much larger audience. American minorities can now communicate with each other on issues that have for too long been ignored by the majority. I disagree in these movies fanning the flames. The movies you reference help retell American History as it truly was. They help foster communication and togetherness. I believe your intentions are very honest, but I fear for a world that worries of flaming the fires of shame.

Thanks for your reply and I agree with you in the historical aspect of what these movies deliver. And in that respect I think we can all agree that it was a horrible time in history, but I personally know people that get extremely worked up over these subjects and these movies continue to keep that rage or anger alive because these movie are so powerful. In these times with so much police brutality and media attention on minority shootings these movies don't seem to help the situation. Again not my intention to upset or create division or anything negative but who do we shame about it now? When does the healing begin? Peace!

Hi Joe. I was swinging by to check on your profile because I was investigating WHY you're still a level 25 and see that you're brandy new!

Welcome to Steemit!

Okay, so I have a lot to say about this subject but I'm going to hold my tongue for the moment. Instead, I'd like to throw out some posting suggestions that may help your and your art get noticed.

  • Create a .doc or .txt template so you can easily create a proper signature at the bottom of your posts.
  • Include a link to your website and your active social media channels. These two things will help get your verified as a real person and an original artist. (We can get a little rabid about verification. Don't take it personal. We're just trying to keep the site clean and legit.)
  • Cite your own work. After visiting your site, I know the cartoon is yours but most people will not to do the research to vet you. (We're also very rabid about plagiarism)
  • Use headers. You're an artist so you know the importance of white space, proportions and sections. Same thing with blogging. Try using # with a space in the first line of your post. It should look like this:

top level header

Any additional # decreases the size of the header and search engines recognize them as important to the blog so try to include key words in it.

idk but @neoxian is a racist everyone flag him. He downvoted my post titled "Steemit needs more black people"
