Project Radium Update #3 (5/29/16)

in #radium9 years ago

Good evening friends,

In the United States, Monday is Memorial Day, a national holiday where we pause to recognize the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served their country and protected their families and loved ones at home. While the celebration of Memorial Day is specific to the US, there are brave men and women all over the world who have made the same sacrifices protecting their own countries and families. I invite everyone to join us in remembering and thanking all those around the world who have sacrificed to protect their families and homelands.

SmartChain 2.4.2 BETA

SmartChain 2.4.2 Beta has been uploaded to github, and so far there has been no reports of issues. I am still not totally happy with the GUI, but that is not important to the big picture. Until recently, the entire SmartChain has been closed source, but I will be working on releasing the GUI to other members of the development team so we can work done more quickly.

Outreach

Collin and I have been working on some marketing email templates to reach out to other projects and invite them to use the SmartChain to verify and sign their binaries. Our goal is to get the first round of emails sent out sometime this week, if all goes well.

Radium Wallet

Progress is being made on Radium v1.5.0, which will see a major improvement in user experience and a progression beyond the Qt toolset. It will reflect both the branding theme set forth by CRZ, and further one of the core principles of Radium: user friendliness. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the user experience, please let us know.

Radium Rapid Deploy

Thanks to Lamptoast (aka ahoink), the Radium wallet can be installed fully synced in less than 10 minutes.* The Rapid Deploy installer will download the latest Radium Wallet binary and a blockchain snapshot directly from github and place a link directly on the desktop. Source code and binaries are available on github.

Business entity

We have finished our research, and are moving forward forming an officially registered business to be the point of contact for everything SmartChain. There are a lot of things that still need to be finalized, but more information will be forthcoming, hopefully sometime in the middle of next week.

New websites

As part of our new branding, we will be launching a new main website and a new SmartChain Verify website. The URLs will remain the same, but we hope that the new layout and information provided will be more useful and professional. As a part of the SmartChain Verify website update, the core code behind the service will be rewritten, offering a new and improved API, as well as additional support for HTTPS.
Best wishes,

The Radium Development Team
