Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition - Review after Roadtrip

in #raodtrip8 years ago

Hi Guys,

we made a Road Trip as you can see and read here:  https://steemit.com/roadtrip/@jadefalke/usa-road-trip-la-to-miami-some-impressions-pics-inside

Planning a Road Trip include obv. a car, our Challenge was to find a car which can carry 2 Adults and tw0 Child's (11 and 9 Year old) plus our Luggage. We had 4 Bags plus 1 Cooler and  3 Backpacks.

We choose the Jeep Grand Cherokee, since we made on Road Trips before good Experience with it.

We picked up the Car at LA Airport and then drove 5650 Miles to Miami.

The Average MPG were around 25 which was quite good and 550 Mile was the average Distance per full Fuel Tank.
We had no Problems at all with the Car during the full Distance, which is quite impressive if you see all the broken Cars and Tires on the Highway :)

We had the Limited Edition with Flexfuel option, which give's you a lot of options in Regards to the Fuel you can use. (almost any Grade except Diesel, you can even use 85 Octane Fuel)
Fueling in US is such a Pleasure, since Gas is so dirt cheap.

I loved the Rear View Camera, which gives you a Perfect View what is happening behind you, never had any Parking Issues. The Remote start Option is also a must have, since the Car is already cold when you reach it.
I used it always when i was coming out of a Restaurant or Walmart and my Wife was already making Jokes, that i will miss that at home and have to buy a Jeep just to get the remote Start Function :)

If i would had to name Flaws, then it would be the Cruise Control. There are two Problems with the Cruise
Control: a) you have to activate it when you start the Car, you cannot use it right away b) if you set a speed during Downhill, Cruise Control will not keep the Speed, lets say you want to have 65 mp/h and you are going downhill, then the Car is accelerating even if cruise Control is set to 65 mp/h. If you set the Cruise Control before to 65 and then go downhill, you will have no Problems.
Another small Issue is the GPS Navigation, I'm used to change POI/Address on the fly, while we are driving,
actually my wife does that, but as soon as you are going faster then 5mp/h you cannot change that.
(might be the Case that this is due to Law in USA, in Europe that's no Problem)

I would not recommend that car if you have more Luguagge than we have, the Car was always fully packed.
Also if your traveling with 4 Adults and not Kids, the Space in the Back is to small for a long Distance Road Trip.
(and stopping every hour slows you down a lot...)

My Rating for the Jeep Grand Cherooke as a Car for Road Trip would be like:

Durability: 9/10

Fuel/Range: 8/10

Room for Luggage: 6/10

Room for Driver :6/10

Room for Family :6/10

Overall we enjoyed that car and it was a bit sad, when we had to Return it after 34 Days.
