I expect there's some truth in that. A few lucky small investors will do well, but it's mainly the seriously big ones who manipulate the market so they can profit. At least on Steem anyone can earn some crypto, even if it's just cents. In some places that makes a difference. I want everyone to have that opportunity. I'm lucky to have a good job that pays the bills, but I know life is tough for others and it's not just about working harder if the opportunities are not there.
It's a cool opportunity, although i think its good to be realistic. right now steem might be good money for people in small economies (Which is awesome), but for people living in first-world countries, it's not meaningful income.
w/ my 3k+ followers and a reasonably earnest approach, i earn like a dollar a day or less. it's just not meaningful money. i don't see a lot of counterexamples other than people who use bidbots
i like steem for the community more than anything
We need to keep growing that community. I want to see it get to a stage where I can buy gig tickets for Steem.
