I've heard about this idea... that the ability to give past criminals (and the homeless) homes really does make a positive impact in their lives.
I've been homeless myself (by choice). The ability to get a job is often dependent on the ability to be clean, not stink, and receive a phone call to schedule an interview and any follow ups. Imagine trying to put all that together while living on the street. It's tough.
People just getting out of prison often have few to no resources to find housing and transportation for job seeking and job keeping. Providing a safe, stable place to live in proximity to where they work makes a world of difference.

Agreed... but too often people forget that people need a little hand up to get off the floor, to be able to start recontributing to society.... too much is attributed to personal attributes and too little to pure luck.
Yes. Because some people are able to succeed with no apparent help, it is often assumed that all people can do the same. We're here to spread the luck just a little further. :-)
