One thing I realize when it comes to making friends

in #reflection7 years ago (edited)

In mid-2017, I made a decision to make more friends, but looking back today, it's probably not a very wise decision.

While I do make a lot of friends by joining groups and events, not all of them share equal belief as mine.

I get more insecurities since I don't know them very well, and a lot of my opinion gets challenged, and like usual, they get offended too when I voice out my thoughts and opinion.

And being with them does not exactly provide the environment I need to keep growing.

Still, if I don't go out and make friends, I wouldn't meet those few incredible people who had such a great impact on my personal growth.

For the last 4 month of 2017, my greatest transformation came from fostering the relationship with people 10x smarter and several times wealthier than me, where some of them have been my past mentors several years back.

One thing leads to another and I found myself landing on my dream job as copywriter / internet marketer with Musemancer, which is in perfect alignment of my goal of becoming a great internet marketer, and towards achieving my lifelong dream of becoming a digital nomad, travelling the world in my day campervan while being able to make a fortune with a laptop and internet connection.

Yeah, that's the dream. Nothing fancy, nothing big.

(Tipu lah if I don't dream big, but saying it today and you would probably call it crazy, so let me just keep it to myself for now)

And I've achieved my goal of earning extra 10,000 before 2017 ends, in fact, I earned 12k from 2 freelance work I did, and they all became possible because I mix with my mentor a.k.a awesome friend who showed me the way and that it's totally possible.

I'm saying this not to boast, but the saying is true:

"You are the average of the 5 friends you mix with"

If I were to make friends who keep complaining about their job or life, I wouldn't have that conversation that leads me to believe in my greater potential. In fact, they might influence me into complaining about work and life too, and that's the last thing that I want to do.

Who you become close friends with true matters. While there's nothing wrong with hanging out with your current friends, you should be more aware of their thoughts and belief, and you can analyze for yourself from the conversation that you carry with them.

So go brush up your social skill and make friends with people 10x better than you. And that's what I set out to achieve in 2018 for my social goals.

Wonder why I'm on Steemit today? Well, that's because I mix with the right friend (probably a millionaire) who taught me about the crypto world which eventually landed me on the platform today.

And it's a great way to earn some crypto money as well while posting your content to the world. Try it yourself today :)

"Irwin always do things to make himself wealthy one, so he can contribute more to the needy and end suffering to his people. So if he is on Steemit, then you know he is on to something. ;)

** And why is his name on Steemit Alethea?
Well, that's because he loves Greek God so much, and the Goddess Aletheia represents his core belief of truth and sincerity.

Actually there's a typo to my username, should be Aletheia instead of Alethea, but I guess its nothing major :)

So yeah, jump on Steemit today and post your content, because crytocurrency is here to stay. And Steem dollar is one of the most promising currency to date.

Heck you can even withdraw it in your local Malaysian back.
