Stop being RIGHT all the timesteemCreated with Sketch.

relationships is the most precious valuable asset you'll ever have.

i started by stating that as this is my conclusion for this post, last night was somewhat rough between my girlfriend and I.
we walked out of an exhibition in NY and i saw on her face that something went a bit wrong, i asked what's the matter , and she said nothing let's eat dinner.

i didn't show it but i was a bit nervous while waiting to get out of the restaurant, started to think of moments prior and just in case i could get an idea what is it all about.

She finally started explaining herself, she mentioned she could not not notice i asked a friend of hers the same question twice, she thought i was not present in the conversation and this is something that bothers her.

she added it to few other things she noticed that happened a week ago and couple of weeks ago,
according to her I was interrupting her and her friend to converse while i was shouting something to someone else far away from us.
she kept saying manners in public is very important to her, she really wants her friends to get to know me , the real me and the great sides of me and perhaps this is not the right way to get there.

at first i was confused , started to defend myself by bringing up some facts that may or may not were relevant but i felt awkward, a bit ashamed and mostly didn't know what to say.
obviously i knew that "Im sorry you're right it wasn't ok for me to do" or " im sorry dear i got carried away in the moment" or anything like that would be the right thing to do and it is usually what i'd have ended up saying but in this case from some reason i did not , at least not at the beginning.

i had hard time registering the fact she called me out on this.
we spoke for about an hour, i felt somewhat embarrassed, tried to run this all back in my mind perhaps to find something , any evidence she was wrong or just exaggerated but then i caught myself wanting to be right , all along.

GUYS - let your ego go if you want your relationships to grow and blossom.
let any sort of manly macho figure go if you want to be happy while making her happy.
most importantly STOP WANTING TO BE RIGHT ALL THE TIME, if you do congratulations you won on this one....but ask yourself later on what did you win.

you'll wake up to scary thought, where you'll realize you lost.

Great post, very open and honest. So refreshing when a man can admit he wasn't right. It's not a weakess, it's a power.
