Fear, Firearms, And Fellowship

Rev. Karl Jones, a pastor of Fellowship Church of God in Cleveland, says that many members of his congregation are gun owners. He even leads a concealed-carry class through his church, where he discusses gun safety and how to think like a gun owner.

He tells people in the class to always treat a gun as if it's loaded and to never put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to use it. And, takes them to an outdoor range just outside the city to take their first shots.

Rev. Jones concealed-carry classes have been sold out for months. The idea was introduced to the church shortly before the church massacre in Charleston.

He mentioned to a reporter, i'm paraphrasing here, but he said, it was what happened in Charleston with Dylann Roof that confirmed he was going in the right direction with his congregation.

Jones said he doesn't carry his gun in church, but some of the members of his congregation do carry.

The rev. talks about gun rights in a positive light and encourages the members of his church to be cautious of ignoring guns all-together and the miseducation surrounding them.

Jones says, it's important to not back away from guns for protection and informs them of the right to defend themselves against any kind of evil.

The question of how this idea stacks up against the Bible when it says, "Thous Shall Not Kill".

His response was this...

"God never made us to be puppets just to be beat upon and treaded upon," Rev. Jones said. "He made us to be someone that's well educated, knowledgeable, and have enough wisdom and sense to protect yourself, your family, and your possessions. So I believe that."
