OBEDIENCE--Pathway To Lasting Victory
Obedience is part of the requirement to have unrestricted access to the covenant. Obedience is putting God first. Nothing should compete with Him. He created all things and all things exist by Him, so, non of the things created by Him should compete with Him. Anything you allowed to compete with God show your hatred for Him and He would cause the consequent of your hatred for Him to fall on you and your generations to come because He is a jealous God
Genesis 22:1-4
Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here Iam". Then He said , "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to a land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you" So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey , and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.
God tested to see if Abraham will put Isaac first before Him or if He will still remains the first He has always been in his life. Now that Abraham has what he was looking for (Isaac) God wants to know where He now stand in Abraham's life. God demanded the best from Abraham, which is Isaac. God was saying : let me see if you will make a god out of what I blessed you with.
Everytime God demands obedience from you, it's a test of promotion. Obedience is mandatory for promotion.
Obedience is a product of faith. If you have faith, obedience will never be an issue for you. People struggle with obedience because they lack faith. Obedience is a sign of maturity. Your obedience determines your maturity and your maturity determines what God can trust you with.
Genesis 22:7, 12-15
But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My Fther!"And he said, "Here I am, my son." Then he said, "Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"......
And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now i know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son from me". Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram,and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided."Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven,
Whenever God ask for a thing from you He always has a provision and alternative, so, it is in your own best interest to secure your glorious destiny by obeying Him. Abraham didn't see the provision until he followed through in obeying God.

Anything you withhold from God, you will eventually lose it.
There is nothing God requires your obedience for that will destroy you here on earth. When God ask you to give something, it is because He has something better or bigger to give you.Obedience is a product of suffering and one of the baptism is suffering and suffering reveals character and character determines longetivity.
The song writer captured it perfectly when he sang: .........there is no other way to live happily in Jesus but to trust and obey
