That is why I love to travel. Get out of my comfort zone, challenge myself, and learn from other people and cultures. I'll be doing a month in Laos in a few weeks. Now I'm hanging in Koh Phe Ngan Thailand.

What about you? How did you get to be so wise, captain gavvet?

Not wise yet... still plenty to go and lots more pondering to do.

Born and raised in South Africa... you experience a lot of diversity if you want to.

We'll you must be doing something right, clocking in at a 76 rep here on steemit.

I met a lot of South Africans along my travels. All very nice people. But in recent years based on conversations I've had I've come to an understanding that your country and my USA have a lot in common. They are both on a downward spiral with racial, political, and economic tensions reaching new highs. Hope that isn't the case for South Africa.

I just left the US from a 5 week visit after not being there for 3 years. It was mind blowing how everyone was so divided. Made me quite sad. I miss my baseball and apple pie. Now it's gangster rap and transgender. Now I'm back in one of my favorite countries, Thailand! For me it's a big breath of fresh air! :)

I got in early, it was easy then...

Yip, SA is unfortunately fast becoming the USA of Africa, but that's what wealth and the easy life chasing materialism brings.

Your culture shock series was great by the way, pity it didn't earn more, I loved it, all to easy to identify with these days.

Western culture is crumbling before our very eyes and no one seems to see the forest through the trees. I won't win any popularity contests among certain groups when I say that, in my intentionally, very well informed opinion, the reformation is the single event in history that has contributed the most to the decline of the west. The Name above all names has been reduced to the punchline of a bad joke because we who claim to know the truth can't even agree on the meaning of the first three chapters of the first book. The Bible states explicitly that a house divided cannot stand. When Jesus said this, he was talking about us, right now, today. I'm thoroughly convinced of this.

Yeah, I'm in a mosh pit of minnows, wish I got in back then. It's gotten me highly discouraged. My earnings per hour spent on here are that of a Chinese sweat shop worker.

I almost threw in the towel on steemit all together last week. Especially when I started getting jealous of @diabolika, as some whale must of thought she was cute and resteemed everything she wrote for like two weeks as I watched her rating breeze past mine.

I'm glad to find another like minded person on here. Certainly will be following you, and giving you my fat 3 cent up-vote! lol

Very glad you enjoyed my culture shock series. I was really in a tailspin being back "home". It's all I could think to write and I was very iffy about writing them as it had some obvious political slants; but I'm happy I did.

Yes our two countries are in that boom bust cycle aren't they? All these years outside the US I feel as if normal is found in places like Cambodia! lol I have like no culture shock when traveling to these parts of the world now.

So you are living your life in South Africa? Or have you ventured out of Zoo-loo land?

This is gold!

Well presented.

You've got a true talent.

Impressive work.

You're a genius!

I can't get enough of this.
