Why i as a Christian do not celebrate Christmas
Disclaimer *a friend of mine wrote this and this is something that I could not have said better myself *
People ask me why a good Christian like me celebrates a Jewish holiday called Chanukah instead of a Christian Holiday called Christmas.
Christmas is not a Christian holiday - it is a Pagan holiday.
The Pagans want their holiday back, and Christians should give it back to them. After all, it belongs to them.
Jesus (Yah'shua) was not born any where near Christmas.
Christmas is not found in the New Testament, but Chanukah is.
Jesus celebrated Chanukah, and since I follow him, I want to celebrate what he celebrated.
Chanukah is about not being assimilated into idolatry or Paganism.
Chanukah is about living a life dedicated to God (YHVH), like Jesus.
Chanukah is about making great personal sacrifices in order to obey God, like Jesus.
Chanukah is about resisting evil, instead of just going along to get along, like Jesus.
Chanukah is about being a light in a dark world, like Jesus.
Celebrating with family and friends over eight days is way less stressful than trying to do everything with everyone on one day.
Chanukah is just more fun than Christmas!
